This course is aimed at people who want to create sculpture in a less traditional mixed-media approach, with an interest in learning about different materials and methods to combine them in a more “experimental”, creative ethos. In the first section of the course we will start with group sessions with wire/spot-welding, modroc, carving and mixed media construction; with reference material of contemporary mixed media sculpture/textile art on hand for inspiration.
In the following section students will have the opportunity to develop their own projects with access to workshop facilities and guidance from the tutor as/when required

* Enrollment closes December 14th *

Womens well-being project, Lawrence Weston, Bristol 2015.

Working with Alan May on projects for the new Health Hub in the area, the group worked on self-portrait style clay reliefs' exploring personal issues of well-being, looking at Persian Mediaeval medical images as a format for reference/inspiration.

The group looked at things that were important in their life regarding their own well-being, then worked them into the figure.

Lovely work! The pieces came out like strong goddess icons.
